Documentation; the thought alone strikes fear and loathing into most people. However, it is my passion. Here’s why…
Growing up, my family moved a lot. There wasn’t a lot of structure at home. I began working as a cook at a young age, and documentation soon followed. I found order and structure working in the kitchen. You could say that recipes were my “gateway drug” to writing procedures, manuals, and standards.
I was later drawn to technology and studied Computer Automated Systems at TRU in Kamloops, BC. Completing projects in industrial automation and robotics really fuelled and solidified my love of technical writing. Right out of school, I worked in wood processing optimization and controls training and also wrote a 118 hour college credit course called “Introduction to PLCs.”
Over 10 years, as an employee or contractor in the software industry, I have honed my skills and developed a passion for writing software user documentation and for user advocacy. This is now my specialty and focus.
If you are a software developer and hate writing user documentation, call me. I would truly love to help.
